The Women’s Institute: Brook and Sandhills
Our local Women’s Institute (WI) was re-launched in 2024 and meets at the Pirrie Hall on the first Tuesday of each month, promising ‘companionship, camaraderie, and the opportunity to keep on learning’.
The WI is the largest voluntary women’s organisation in the UK, with around 220 000 members. It is also in the top 15 largest membership charities of any kind, and one of the country’s most engaged volunteer groups, open to women of all ages and backgrounds.
A brand-new WI
The WI is enjoying a resurgence across the country, in both cities and rural areas and our local committee of nine work hard to put on a programme of events that will appeal to everyone, with cheese and wine evenings, talks from local authors and summer sporting activities.
New to the area? Joining the WI is a great way of creating new friendships, memories and having a bit of fun along the way!
